Journey to the Heart of Bubbles: Four Days, Four Champagne Houses, and\u00a0 Countless Memories\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

When bubbles dance in a glass, it feels like simple beauty. But behind every sip of\u00a0 Champagne are years of patience, precision, inspiration, and people with enormous\u00a0 hearts.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

This spring, together with a group of like-minded friends, we travelled to Champagne \u2014\u00a0 not only to taste, but to meet, listen, and understand the stories behind the bottles. Over\u00a0 four days, we visited four completely different yet equally remarkable Champagne\u00a0 houses: Alexandre Bonnet, Laherte Fr\u00e8res, Bonnet-Ponson, and Pierre Gimonnet. Each\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

has its own style, rhythm, and truth. But they all share one thing: love for wine. For the\u00a0 land. For what they do.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

All these producers are also part of the TTW Rotermanni selection \u2014 and for\u00a0 us, it is a true privilege to work directly with them and import their wines ourselves. It\u00a0 allows us to bring to Estonia Champagnes made by real people, whose hands,\u00a0 vineyards, and stories we know personally.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Our journey began in Les Riceys, the southernmost village in Champagne, where Pinot\u00a0 Noir thrives under the gentle sun. The house of Alexandre Bonnet greets guests with\u00a0 quiet elegance and deep respect for its terroir. We were guided by Nicolas Dupuis \u2014\u00a0 kind, attentive, and genuinely passionate \u2014 who led us through the vineyards, where\u00a0 we tasted Champagne surrounded by the vines themselves.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

To taste wine where it was born is a rare feeling. You see the soil, breathe in the air,\u00a0 feel the wind \u2014 and somehow all of it becomes part of the aroma in your glass. The\u00a0 wines of Alexandre Bonnet are ripe, generous, and honest. They don\u2019t need to\u00a0 announce themselves loudly \u2014 they simply stay with you.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Next stop was the village of Chavot near \u00c9pernay. Laherte Fr\u00e8res is one of the brightest\u00a0 stars among new-generation grower Champagne makers. Their philosophy is rooted in\u00a0 biodynamics, minimal intervention, and complete trust in nature. At the heart of it all is\u00a0 Aur\u00e9lien Laherte \u2014 quiet, precise, and deeply devoted to his craft. His wines are like\u00a0 handwritten letters: sincere, layered, and alive. \u201cNature de Craie\u201d \u2014 chalky, fresh, and\u00a0 slightly saline. These wines don\u2019t shout. They whisper \u2014 and reach straight to the heart.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

In Chamery, we were welcomed by Cyril Bonnet, calmly watering flowers in front of his\u00a0 home. From the first moments \u2014 a smile, a joke, a sparkle in his eyes. It\u2019s immediately\u00a0 clear: he makes Champagne the way he lives \u2014 with joy, kindness, and warmth. His\u00a0 wines are clean, energetic, and full of life. Especially memorable was \u201cSeconde Nature\u201d\u00a0 \u2014 made without sulfites, unfiltered, yet strikingly pure, mineral, and bright. Cyril is the\u00a0 sixth generation of Bonnet winemakers, yet his approach feels fresh, free, and full of\u00a0 modern sensibility. \u201cOrganic isn\u2019t a choice,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s a way of life.\u201d And when you\u00a0 meet him \u2014 you believe it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Our final stop was Pierre Gimonnet & Fils in Cuis, in the heart of the C\u00f4te des Blancs.\u00a0 Here, the king is Chardonnay \u2014 and the man who has mastered it, Didier Gimonnet,\u00a0 embodies wit, precision, and elegance. We met in the house where he grew up, now\u00a0 serving as the family office, still filled with warmth and stories. Didier swears by\u00a0 stainless steel: \u201cOak kills elegance,\u201d he says. A touch of dosage, on the other hand,\u00a0 allows the wine to breathe and unfold. We tasted \u201cGastronome\u201d, \u201cCuis 1er Cru\u201d, and the\u00a0 legendary Special Club from Cramant. Everything was balanced, layered, and full of\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

character. These are not wines that try to impress \u2014 they are wines for those already\u00a0 enchanted.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

And yes \u2014 from the end of August, Pierre Gimonnet Champagnes will officially be\u00a0 available at TTW Rotermanni.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Champagne is not about status or shiny labels. It\u2019s about people \u2014 their thoughts, their\u00a0 doubts, their care. It\u2019s about hands in the soil and eyes that shine when they speak of\u00a0 their harvest. If you ever find yourself in Champagne, take the side road. Visit a village.\u00a0 Knock on a door. Listen.
